Handling high-bandwidth / high-rate sensors in a fusion system

Some sensors (e.g. an IMU at 1 kHz) produce data at very high bandwidth, far faster than others (a camera at 20 Hz, GPS at 10 Hz). How do you handle this high-bandwidth data in your estimation/fusion system without overwhelming it or losing information?
